La Cala de Mijas
The location of La Cala de Mijas is like a natural divider between 'east' Costa del Sol and 'west' Costa del Sol. Coming from Málaga, the surprisingly sharp curve in the road that announces the town, emerge upon Marbella side of the coast.
The town delivers a mixture of expat-haven, affordability and local authenticity. The residential areas range from huddled flats to terraced townhouses, swish new apartment urbanizations and, finally, large and quality villas. The town centre has fountains for roundabouts, tidy tree-lined avenues, and a multinational collection of families and couples dashing all over the place, lending La Cala de Mijas a slightly muddled, but addicting atmosphere.
There are plenty of suitable and affordable properties throughout the town and its outskirts, ranging from usual new-build apartments to more traditional Spanish-style flats and townhouses.
In fact, the town has everything you are going to need, including large supermarket, its own weekly market, sports pitches, a lovely beach, great road access to either end of the Costa del Sol, plenty of bars and restaurants and all type of shops and stores. La Cala de Mijas has plenty of late night choice to keep most ages happy
At the beach, the gentle shore and soft golden sands are ideal for families of all ages. Water sports can be enjoyed at the curved eastern end of the beach, and the thriving promenade is lined with lovely restaurants, bars, cafés and the ubiquitous gift shops.
