San Pedro de Alcantara, usually referred to as just San Pedro is simply overlooked by tourists due to its close proximity to Marbella and Puerto Banus. San Pedro is in fact immediately next to Puerto Banus but many just drive past the outskirts that run parallel with the coastal highway on the way to Estepona.

Quiet and tranquil, San Pedro is a 'true slice' of traditional Spain. One of the most untouched corners of the Costa del Sol and a Spanish stronghold that has resisted pretty well to the waves of property development.

From summer 2012, San Pedro takes huge benefit of the new road underpass that diverts the traffic underneath the town, getting back to its peaceful way of living. Surprisingly enough, San Pedro de Alcántara is as unknown as can be and is at ease to stay away from the spotlights, only developing a local reputation.

Away from the cheek-by-jowl apartments, shops, bars and offices that comprise the busy yet somehow lastingly peaceful centre of San Pedro de Alcántara, is the newer area of Nueva Alcántara fronted by the shimmering azure-blue of the Mediterranean where, hundreds of expats, Madrileños and other Spaniards have holiday homes here. The beautiful beach and promenade, is home to several good-looking blocks of apartments and some renowned Chiringuitos right by the sea.
