Developed in the 1980s, with the 1st golf course to be designed by Ballesteros, Los Arqueros is an expansive private urbanization, just above Marbella at the foot hill of la Concha where commences upward slope toward the road to the historic country town of Ronda, some 35 kilometers inland.

Made up of verdant valleys combined with hills, this is a community dominated by views of its meandering golf course and the stunning vistas that take in a coastline framed on clear days by the distinct outlines of Gibraltar and North Africa.

Los Arqueros golf offers players of many different levels and styles a good challenge. In addition to two putting greens, a chipping green and a driving range with golf academy, there is also the choice of a football area, tennis, squash and paddle tennis courts. Central to the community not just in visual terms but also as a social hub is the Los Arqueros Golf Club and its stylish clubhouse, which has a restaurant, café, pro shop, gym, children's play area, meeting areas and changing rooms amongst its facilities.

When the developer Taylor Wimpey, took over Los Arqueros from a Swedish developer in the early 1990s, there was not much more than a few villas, the original clubhouse and a course in a swiftly worsening condition. One of the first steps taken was to develop a master plan and make the golf course the green, undulating gem it is today. Since then, it has become a golfer's favorite, featuring a mixed course of 18 holes in a truly impressive setting.

Small-scale residential urbanizations were then developed in staged phases, comprising a mix of large villas, low-rise apartments and spacious townhouses that either border the fairways or hug the gentle slopes of the surrounding hills. Either way, views are a part of life here, as are individualized gardens and swimming pool areas that offer an element of privacy and seclusion to each complex.
